Happy 2006, everyone! I’ve just finished switching my blog’s underlying technology from Blogger to WordPress. It’s been an interesting challenge — one that’ll inspire a few posts in future days.
The reason for the switch? Blogger is a fine tool, and when I started this thing a couple of years ago, it was an easy way to get started. But I wanted a few more things than they offered: search capability, easy categories, centralized management on one Web site instead of an outsourced provider. I’m especially excited about the categories, as the whole thing will be more valuable as a source of free advice if it’s easier to get to the old (but still relevant) posts.
I exported the old posts out of Blogger, and using a script provided by the WordPress folks, was able to import the posts here. No problem. However, the script did not import your comments (sorry, folks!). Please don’t be offended — comments and discussion are welcome (provided it’s relevant — blog spammers not welcome!).
Here’s to 2006 — may it live up to expectations.

And it looks like the comments appear real-time instead of nnn hours later …
How can we have significance if we cannot insta-publish ?? (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

Thanks for the information. My husband was looking for this.
